Provisional: Subclass 491, 485 and 476
The following can lead to Permanent residency in Australia:
Skilled-Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): A provisional visa allowing holders to live in specific areas of Australia. This requires you to be sponsored by an Australian relative living in a designated area, or by a state or territory government.
Some key requirements for this visa:
- Be under 45 years old
- Must be nominated by an Australian state/ territory government OR sponsored by an eligible relative. All state/territory have their own eligibility requirement that you must be able to comply.
- Have suitable skills assessment
- Able to score 65 points or more in the EOI application
- Your occupation must be on the eligible skilled occupation list for Subclass 491 visa
Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485): This is a working visa and can be applied for by international students who have a completed qualification of two years study in Australia.
Skilled Recognised Graduate (Subclass 476): This visa is for 18 months, and engineering graduates classify for it.
Some key requirements for this visa:
- Be under 31 years old
- Completed an engineering degree or higher qualification in the last 2 years from a specified educational institution
- Have not held either Subclass 485 or 476 visa
- Must achieve Competent English level in the English proficiency test
Skilled (Permanent)
This option is for points-tested workers, allowing them to live and work in Australia with a permanent residency.
Independent visa (subclass 189): This is a permanent visa option for the skilled independent, without requiring sponsorship from a relative or state government.
Some key requirements for this stream:

- Have suitable skills assessment
- Able to score more than 65 points and be invited to apply for the visa application
- Must achieve at least Competent English level in the English proficiency test
Nominated (subclass 190):This permanent resident visa option requires the individual to be nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government.
Some key requirements for this visa:

- Must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency. All state/territory have their own eligibility requirement that you must be able to comply.
- Nominated occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupation for subclass 190 visa
- Must have a relevant skills assessment
- Be able to score 65 points or more in your EOI application
- Must achieve Competent English level in the English proficiency test
Regional (subclass 887):
This pathway is the permanent stage of the Skilled Regional Provisional. In order to qualify for this option, the individual must live in the required region of Australia for over two years, with at least 12 months full time employment.
Some key requirements for this visa:

- Must be in Australia and hold visa of either subclass 489, 495, 496, 475 or 487
- Must have lived for at least 2 years in a designated regional area of Australia
- Must have worked full time for at least 12 months in a designated regional area of Australia
